If you know me, you know I love finding a good hike when we travel, and I’m also always looking for new places to explore closer to home. So September’s Taylor’s Current Favorite is something I’ve actually been using for years: the AllTrails app.
I use AllTrails for pretty much every part of planning a hike. I can search trails wherever we’re headed, check mileage and elevation, look through photos, read recent reviews, save hikes for later, and track the trail while we’re actually out there.

I used it SO much on our trip to South Dakota and Colorado this summer. We had a lot we wanted to fit into that trip, so it was really helpful for narrowing down which hikes were actually worth our time and which ones fit into the day we had planned.
The recent reviews are probably one of my favorite parts. A trail description can tell you the basics, but someone who hiked it two days ago can tell you that it’s muddy, parking is a mess, the views are amazing, or that the “moderate” rating may be a little questionable. 😂

And I definitely don’t only use it when we travel. I’ve continued using it for hikes around Wisconsin and finding places that I probably wouldn’t have known about otherwise.
Next up, I’ll be using it around Door County and for our backpacking trip to the Porcupine Mountains in the UP. I already have trails saved, because of course I do.
If you like hiking, want to get outside more, or are just looking for your next little adventure, AllTrails is something I totally recommend. You definitely don’t have to be climbing mountains either. There are everything from easy nature walks to much bigger adventures.
Just don’t blame me when your saved trail list starts getting a little out of control.
